Can't see any signs?
- You have to be human to summon, and to see most signs.
- For white signs, the area's boss has to be alive.
- A password hides every sign without it.
- Signs show only in the area where they were placed.
- SL and weapon level both have to be in range.
- Signs take a while to show up. Resting at a bonfire refreshes them.
- Network settings can hide them too: check Cross-region play.

Good to know
Weapon level is the highest upgrade of any weapon or shield you've ever held on this character. Picking one up counts, and dropping or storing it doesn't lower it. Armor, rings and spells don't count.
NPC summons show where you pick the boss, under Against in the Attack Rating Calculator and the Armor Optimizer.
Two phantoms and one invader at a time. With the Dried Finger it's three phantoms and two invaders, and invaders show up sooner.
Passwords lift the SL and weapon level limits, for white and red signs only. Per Bandai Namco, a stronger guest gets scaled down to the host.
How it works
A host sees signs within 10 levels plus 10% of their own SL, up or down, so SL 125 sees 102 to 147. That's why the hosts who can summon you sit a little higher than the ones you can summon.
An invader with a Red Eye Orb reaches hosts from 10% below their SL to 20 levels plus 10% above, so who can invade you is worked out from the invader's side too. Covenant rings use the host's range, so you land with hosts whose range includes you.
Weapon level is the game's own number for each item. Regular counts its upgrade; Raw, Magic, Divine and Fire add 5; Crystal, Lightning, Enchanted, Occult and Chaos add 10. Boss, twinkling and dragon weapons count 5 plus twice their upgrade, unique shields three times it. Catalysts, talismans and flames count 0.
