Good to know
Weapon level is the highest upgrade of any weapon or shield you've ever held on this character. Picking one up counts, and dropping or storing it doesn't lower it. Armor, rings and spells don't count.
Two phantoms and one invader at a time. With the Dried Finger it's three phantoms and two invaders, and invaders show up sooner.
Passwords lift the SL and weapon level limits, for white and red signs only. Per Bandai Namco, a stronger guest gets scaled down to the host.
Can't see any signs?
- You have to be human to summon, and to see most signs.
- The area's boss has to be alive.
- You both need the same password, or none.
- SL and weapon level both have to be in range.
- Signs take a while to show up. Resting at a bonfire refreshes them.
How it works
Signs match anyone within 10 levels plus 10% of your SL, up or down, so SL 125 matches 103 to 147. Red Eye Orbs reach hosts from 10% below you to 20 levels plus 10% above. Covenant rings use the host's range, so you land with hosts whose range includes you.
Weapon level is the game's own number for each item. Regular counts its upgrade; Raw, Magic, Divine and Fire add 5; Crystal, Lightning, Enchanted, Occult and Chaos add 10. Boss, twinkling and dragon weapons count 5 plus twice their upgrade, unique shields three times it. Catalysts, talismans and flames count 0.
